At the end of the second leg the Quarter Final of 1991 Champion League (or as it used to be called, European Cup), Chris Waddle almost scored a historical "Maradonian" goal. Olympic Marseille was already leading 1-0 vs. AC Milan,
That chance was not so historical and wonderful just for its brilliant dribbling and running skills of it, that was the least part of it, it was a great moment by itself,
We are talking about 1991 AC Milan, when Milan dominated the world of football. Milan won 1989 and 1990 Champion League, had its great amazing team with the Dutch/Italian masters. It used to be said, that if AC Milan was to play at World Cup, it would have won it.
Olympic Marsille was a wonderful team with great talents, Chris Waddle, Apedi Pele and Jean Pier Papin and bunch of other stars. Later in 1991, World Soccer awarded OM as the team of the year despite losing the Champion League final to Red Star Belgrade.
The first leg was at San Siro when Apedi Pele, Waddle and Papin did great move, and Waddle gave a magnificent assist to Papin to score a wonderful goal. Game ended 1-1. This triangle of these three players did another great move in the second leg, and Chris Waddle scored a world class goal.

That game of the second leg, Chris Waddle was already playing a wonderful game, he was everywhere and did many great moves. It was towards the end of the game, when Waddle did that great run and almost scored a historical killer goal against one of most famous teams in the history of football. In an interview later, Chris mentioned that he had an injury in his head during the game and was not fully conscious even during that great run.
What happened next that some of the lights in the stadium went off, and AC Milan team walked out of the pitch. When the lights came back, the team refused to continue the game. So, the game was awarded as 3-0 to OM (though the game practically ended 1-0).
