What was their best team since 1966? Not sure, could be the 1982 WC when they didn't lose a single game, and managed to beat (the wonderful) France 3-1, or the 1990 WC when they were very very close to qualifying to the final vs. Germany. Germany needed great team, a post help, a reflection goal, and even Penalty Kicks to get through England.
Also, I think the Euro 1996 team was such a great one, and that was just few inches close from scoring the golden goal and beat Germany.
